Low Country Dancing
Dances, songs, Shantikarma Bali Thovil and Yati Karma have been handed down from ancient times to different Sinhala castes in different parts of Sri Lanka. The art of low country dancing is not limited to rituals. Kolam drama, with its high artistic drama elements, occupies a prominent place in the low country tradition. The art of kolam drama has nothing to do with shaanthi karma, even in shaanthi karma as well as masked performances.
